About Us – Katu Katu Inc.
At Katu Katu Inc., we are a dedicated, volunteer-run mental health charity focused on promoting well-being and connection through the spirit of Australia’s Indigenous heritage.
As a not-for-profit organization, our mission is to provide a positive, uplifting, and joyful experience that leaves visitors feeling relaxed, nourished, and more connected to the land we call home.
The name Katu Katu comes from the Warlpiri language, meaning “to rise” or “higher ground.” It’s a word that embodies optimism, similar to the phrase “glass half full” in English. This philosophy is at the heart of everything we do—empowering individuals to rise above challenges and embrace the healing power of nature and community.
Located in the beautiful Yarra Ranges, Victoria, our home is surrounded by safe and nourishing bushland, where we host a range of interactive and culturally rich programs.
Drawing from the diverse knowledge and traditions of Australia’s Indigenous cultures, our workshops offer a holistic approach to mental health and well-being. From mindful bushwalks and bush tucker workshops to didgeridoo playing and art therapy, each program is designed to promote healing, learning, and connection with the land.
We collaborate closely with participating organizations to customize workshops that best meet the specific needs of each group. Whether it’s exploring native foods, contemporary art, or ancient farming practices, our programs aim to foster a deeper sense of community and personal growth.
At Katu Katu Inc., we believe in rising together. For more information about our workshops or how to get involved, please contact us—we’re here to help you connect, heal, and rise.
